Wright Gwyn
Founder
This quote best describes the thought behind the creation of the Gwyn Initiative. Formally established in 2021, the Initiative researches, evaluates, selects and supports small, "grassroot" non-profit organizations that share its philosophy. This effort will continue each year until I can no longer coordinate the selection process. When that time comes, the Gwyn Initiative will be restructured to ensure its longevity.
The restructuring will be in the form of a Donor Advised Fund (DAF). All of my assets will be transferred into the Fund upon my death. Once all transfers have been completed, the Fund will be divided into accounts I have created in advance - one account will annually support my chosen non-profits over the long-term (Legacy Account); the others will be "family" or "friend" accounts that will be actively managed by family/friend members. My only request to these individuals will be to distribute only 5% of their accounts' value each year, thus allowing the account to potentially be self-sustaining. This will ensure the long-term viability of those accounts for future generations.
The establishment of these "sustainable" accounts will hopefully provide unique opportunities for those participating in this project. It is my hope they will be used as an educational as well as a philanthropic tool.
To learn about the “financial and material needs” of those less fortunate.
To select non-profits that provide services and resources to those in need.
To provide opportunities for individuals to explore their own interests and values.
To build an awareness of the value of volunteering.
To work as a team (family/friends) to provide for a better tomorrow.
In my opinion, Mr. Emerson was correct .... "leaving the world a bit better" is a success. Hopefully this will prove as successful as I have envisioned.
